Set back a couple of blocks from the beach and situated in the heart of Millionaire’s Row, the Sixty Sixty is a great location for your stay in Miami Beach. The theme of this upscale hotel reflects the nearby Art Deco district, with bright colours adorning the public areas, whilst the 82 stylish and modern rooms are well furnished, many with balcony and all with kitchenette. A splash pool is located on the 4th floor and just steps away, the brand new ‘Oceanside Beach and Cabana Club’. Although no restaurant of its own, there are plenty of options nearby, including beachfront ‘Bogart’s’ at sister hotel The New Casablanca, open throughout the day and where guests of the Sixty Sixty are welcome to dine.
A little north of South Beach, the Grand Beach Hotel’s more serene location makes this a good option for families. Fronting 200-feet of white sands, each of the 420 extremely well equipped rooms features a private balcony affording views of the Atlantic Ocean, Biscayne Bay or Indian Creek. At mealtime, dine indoors or al fresco at French themed ‘Chez Gaston’, whilst a beachside pool bar and lobby lounge will tempt you with creative cocktails, beers, wines and soft drinks, and ‘Espresso Gelato’ dispenses a range of coffees and delicious Italian ice cream. You’ll have a choice of two beachfront pools as well as a seasonal tranquillity pool on the 7th floor, and when you don’t fancy the water, cycle hire is available to explore the local area.
For a true flavour of what Miami’s South Beach area is all about, the
1 Hotel ticks plenty of boxes. The splendidly furnished and spacious accommodation is inspired by the hotel’s beachfront setting, with features including salvaged driftwood walls and a glass terrarium. ‘STK’ is where you’ll find some great surf ‘n’ turf, whilst for those wishing to eat really healthily, ‘Plnthouse’ focuses on dishes rooted in nature. ‘Watr at the 1 Rooftop’ combines Polynesia with Japan and for that quick libation, the lobby bar and ‘Sand Box’ pool bar offer refreshments throughout the day and evening. With 4 outdoor pools, live entertainment, direct access to Miami Beach, full service spa, cycle tours and kayaking through the mangroves, there may not be many more boxes to tick!
Oozing style and character and steeped in a glamorous past, the iconic Fontainebleau remains one of the most fashionable hotels in Florida. Set amidst 20 acres of prime Miami beachfront along sophisticated Millionaire’s Row, more than 1,500 lavishly appointed rooms and suites afford a variety of luxurious accommodation and amenities. With 8 restaurants, the choices are limitless, as are the lounge venues, and if you’re up for some nightlife, be sure to visit ‘LIV’ nightclub. Full service spa, a multitude of pools and a great beach are on hand, and although famed for its nightlife and fine dining, we would still consider the Fontainebleau to be an excellent choice for all the family, with children’s club and kid’s pool with waterslide more than enough to keep the little ones occupied.
