This outstanding 650-room resort hotel is set amidst 16 acres of elegantly landscaped grounds and cascading waterfalls, and is situated on 1100 feet of glorious beach at the quieter southern end of Fort Lauderdale. Many of the large bedrooms have private balcony with view over the ocean or intracoastal waterways and all feature tea/coffee maker, iron/ironing board and mini-bar. Among the three restaurants is ‘3030 Ocean Restaurant & Bar’, a favourite with the locals, and if you’re in a hurry, the familiar name of ‘Starbuck’s’ will welcome you. Families will love it here, with the giant pool and kids’ club for the younger ones, an adult pool, tennis and spa for the not quite so young and a host of water sports for everyone to enjoy.
Less than 20 miles from the Kennedy Space Centre and fronting the Ocean’s shoreline, the Hilton offers a convenient and excellent value base if you and the family want to stay in Cocoa Beach. All the rooms offer a view of the Atlantic, with amenities including a fridge, coffee maker and iron/ironing board. ‘Salt Restaurant and Lounge’ is the main dining area, serving breakfast and dinner, and you also have an evening option at ‘Longboards Tiki Beach Grille’ offering children’s menu and seasonal live entertainment at the weekend. The heated pool includes a kids’ splash pool, the beach is on your doorstep and
if you care for some action in the water, nearby activities include surfing, kayaking and boogie boarding.
The Boca Raton is truly a world-class resort, the courtyards, gently trickling fountains and classic architecture exuding luxury and elegance throughout the 356 acres of magnificent grounds. From the Yacht Club overlooking the marina to the historical ’Cloister’ building, from the Tower to the prestigious Boca Beach Club, the boutique-style accommodations are designed to suit every lifestyle and preference. That theme is evident throughout the resort, where the dining options are plentiful and the list of activities endless. Whether tucking into a sumptuous steak at award-winning ‘Old Homestead’, having a pasta moment at ‘Lucca’ Italian restaurant or sampling one (or more) of almost 3,500 bottles of wine and champagne at ‘Bar Luna’, all tastes are catered for, and for leisure pursuits, six swimming pools, two golf courses, 30 tennis courts and an amazing spa are just for starters!
If it’s Daytona that you want to be, this is a great little find of ours, particularly recommended for couples. The 143-room Hyatt Place sits alongside a stretch of Daytona’s Atlantic coastline and affords guests direct access to the beach. Every room provides comfortable accommodation with private balcony, each affording at least a partial view of the ocean below. Complimentary hot breakfast is served daily, two snack bars offer salads, sandwiches and pastries 24 hours a day, and situated next to the beachside pool, an outdoor Tiki bar is the place for beers, wines and spirits. Within a short walk are a number of shops and restaurants, whilst Daytona’s famous ‘drag’ is about a 15-minute drive away.
