New York State Anyone for pizza? For movie buffs
Whilst New York City is known as The Big Apple, New York State (NYS) is more like one Big Secret. Whether people are travelling alone, with friends, a loved one, or with the entire family, NYS has something to do during every season and in every one of the eleven vacation regions on offer. It’s a state that has four distinct seasons that bring different opportunities to experience the natural beauty.
Feeling peckish? Then take the Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour. This 41⁄2-hour excursion will include visits to Brooklyn Bridge, the Fulton Ferry Landing, Sunset Park and Coney Island, the most historic amusement area in the US. The highlight of the tour is, nevertheless, the chance to sample the fare at two legendary pizza restaurants, the award-winning Grimaldi's and L&B Spumoni Gardens, famous for its Sicilian style pizza.
Here’s one to create a little nostalgia – the TCM Classic Film Tour of New York, visiting some of New York City’s great movie sites. There are the familiar, such as the Empire State Building, where ‘King Kong’ met his end, and Holly Golightly’s favourite haunt of Tiffany’s. Then there are the less obvious, including the subway grate where Marilyn Monroe was caught unawares in ‘The Seven Year Itch’, the market featured in ‘Manhattan’, and Grand Central Terminal, seen in ‘North by Northwest’ and ‘Superman’.
